![]() It was simultaneously hilarious and awkward. Turns out, until she saw my uniform, she had assumed I was a kid that had been separated from the group and was playing hide and seek in the house. Well, nope, they stayed back as well, and when I finally peek out her mom goes "what are you doing?" in a tone that would be used with a little kid. The must-haves are quirky, to say the least. The construction of the gigantic estate never had any plans, blueprints or foresight, just Sarah and her constant list of must-haves. This abode is fascinating from start to finish. I don't want to get caught and have to awkwardly explain myself, so I stay back for what I think is a long enough time for everyone to leave the room. The Winchester House was built back in 1884 by Sarah Winchester, heiress to the Winchester firearms fortune. As you might imagine, she was inconsolable. A few minutes later, right after the tour guide finished talking, I peeked out again, and again the girl saw me but I ducked back before she could point me out to her mom. Then, a few short years later, her husband, William Winchester died. ![]() Someone saw me and even though I ducked back, she caught her mom's attention and was whispering that someone was in the next room. ![]() All was well and good until I decided to peek out from where I was hiding. I was in the room next to the oriental bedroom, and a tour came into the oriental bedroom so I found a nook and hid. So when we're in the house while we're cleaning, we have to keep the tours from seeing us.
